U.S. PLANE BUILDERS SEE RESULTS OF LABORS. Key workers and executives of American plants building U.S. Navy planes are addressed by U.S. Rear Admiral Clark H. Woodward (with cane), at an airbase before leaving for a day's visit aboard an American aircraft carrier off the U.S. East Coast. The plane builders observed the performance of their products and obtained information on the problems faced by the Navy's air arm. Between March, 1941, and July, 1944, American plants produced 200,000 airplanes, of which more than 33,000 were supplied to Allied nations under Lend-Lease. A record monthly production of 9,118 planes was reached in March, 1944.
