'21 Aug. 1945. Wounded veterans return to homes in Canada. When the Canadian hospital ship Lady Nelson docked at Halifax Tuesday, she carried approximately 450 Canadian personnel injured overseas. Aboard were the pair shown above, Pte. Chatel of Woodbridge, Manitoba, and right, Pte. D. Crow of Kenora, Ontario. Pte. Chatel suffered a wound in the left hand when a bullet pierced it following an attack on a village in Germany. Pte. Crow who was riding in a Universal carrier during an attack in Germany, suffered severe back wounds when the carrier was struck by a German 88 shell, scoring a direct hit on the vehicle. Pte. Crow indicated he felt rather complacent about it all though, for he came home well laden with German souvenirs, including a pair of German boots. 'Killed 'em to size', he grinned.'
