'For the purpose of planting a 'Canada Memorial Grove' in the Holy Land, to honour Jewish Canadians of all Services who died in the war, a fund was started during the fighting in Europe, and £500 was collected, the equivalent of 1400 trees. On 5 Sept. a scroll commemorating the action was presented to Lt.-Gen. the Hon. P.J. Montague, Chief of Staff, CMHQ, London, by Pte. Lillian Meltzer, of St John, New Brunswick, on behalf of Canada's Jewish members of the Navy, Army and Air Force. Photo shows Pte. Meltzer making the presentation.'
