German orphans greet U.S. Troops. German orphans smile and wave at First U.S. Army soldiers patrolling Honnef shortly after the capture of the Reich town on the east bank of the Rhine River. American troops who crosses the Rhine at Remagen March 7, 1945, captured Honnef March 13 in a drive to cut the Cologne-Frankfurt broad motor highway.
