U.S. Soldiers saved by French underground Four American paratroopers compare the German war trophies they captured in Normandy after they were saved by the French underground before the liberation of Cherbourg. Crash landing behind the enemy lines on D-Day, June 6, 1944, they were befriended by a French patriot, who hid them undera haystack on his farm until the underground announced the Germans'surrender of Cherbourg June 27. 1944.
