When Allied troops plunged through the Vosges Mountains near Natzweiler, France, they discovered a German concentration camp whose horrible record is one of the worst yet revealed. Known as Lo Struthof, the camp for forced laborers had its own gas chamber and crematorium and was surrounded by electric wire that killed upon contact. According to Frenchmen living nearby, Lo Struthof contained thousands of prisoners who repaired airplane engines, hundreds of which were abandoned when the Nazis flod, taking the slaved with tehm, in the path of the Allied Siexth Army Group. Search of the abandened deathhouse disclosed piles of wooden coffins used to transport murdered non from the place where they were killed, either by gas or bullets, to a storage room where a steel lift, resembling a factory elevator, carried them to the furnace room. Slaves of the Nazis spent their last few moments of life in this shower room, where they forced to bathe before entering the gas chamber. A French patriot fighter inspects the room.
