From Dec. 7, 1941 to Jan. 1, 1944, U.S. shipyards launched 3,736 cargo vessels. Between Jan.1 and Aug. 15, 1944 launchings included 69 Victory and 488 Liberty ships, 343 cargo vessels of miscellaneous types and 112 cargo carriers of special design.
