U.S. bombers touch off Nazi ammunition dump in Italy. An immense tree of smoke sprouts from a Nazi ammunition dump in Italy after a formation of B-26 Marauder bombers of the 12th U.S. Air Force attacked the explosive stores at La Spezia, 40 miles southeast of Genoa. The stores were hidden in strongly constructed buildings revetted with dirt. At least five of the buildings were demolished in the attack.
