Julius Streicher arrrested. Julius Streicher (right), former founder and editor of the vicious Nazi anti-Semite weekly newspaper 'Der Stürmer' is shown with Major Henry G. Platt of the 101st Infantry Division, Seventh U.S. Army, shortly after the capture of the Nazi May 23, 1945, Streicher was listed as a war criminal by Allied military authorities was arrested in a small farmhouse near Berchtesgaden. He was fairly well dressed, and had grown a beard in the hope of disguising himself. He limped and used a cane.Thrown out office in 1938, he was reinstated in 1945.
