Jeder Tag war Jom Kippur : eine Kindheit im Ghetto und KZ
Memoirs of a Jew (b. 1932) from Kovno. She endured the annexation of Lithuania by the Soviet Union, and later the invasion of Hitler's troops. Her father was deported by the Nazis, and the rest of the family was interned in the ghetto. Thanks to the cleverness of her mother, who pretended that her daughter was older than she really was, they remained together; she escaped several selections, but had to do forced labor. When the ghetto was liquidated and its occupants were deported to Stutthof, her mother succeeded in declaring Renata as fit for work and protected her, once more, from certain death. They were liberated in February 1945; today she lives in Australia. Includes bibliographical references. 159 pages ; 19 cm
