Hannah Callman née Levy (1893-1984) was a German Jewess, born in Zachan, Pomerania. She married Dr Curt Callman, a lawyer and notary, in Berlin in 1919. They had two children, Ellen (b. 1920) and Gerda (b. 1925). The two children were sent to Great Britain before the war where they settled and married and had their own families.

Curt had been rounded up after Kristallnacht and sent to Sachsenhausen. His brother, Walter, effected his release two weeks later. The couple remained in Berlin until the deportations whereupon they were sent to Terezin, where Curt became a member of the Ghetto Court, and along with all other members and other camp dignitaries was deported to Auschwitz on 16.10.1944, and murdered on arrival. Hannah couldn't accompany her husband and survived Terezin, working as a nurse assistant in the hospital for infectious diseases.
