Hlavnoslužnovský úrad v Rožňave 1939 – 1944

Inventory is available in an eletronic form on the computer of the researcher's room of the archives. Inventory was made in 2021 by Mária Tureková. It is possible to make copies in accordance with the research rules of the archive. The Chief Constable's Office of the Rožňava District belonged to the territory of Gemer-Malohont (in Hungarian Gömör-Kishont) County ceded to Hungary according to the first Vienna Arbitration in 1938. The office was headed by the chief constable (főszolgabíró). The Rožňava District included about 30 villages that were inhabited by more than 560 Jews, including Plešivec (Pelsőc) and Jelšava (Jolsva). Accessible. The collection of materials contains the administrative files that concern the political, economic, and social life in the villages that belonged to the office between 1939 – 1944. The persecution of the Jewish population is documented in the major part of the collection. These documents concern the Anti-Jewish agenda and the situation of the Jewish population in the territory of the district. The collection includes the documents of the liquidation of Jewish associations and citizenship application of Jewish inhabitants. One might can find here the preserved files concerning the activity of right-wing political parties, Jewish labour service and Jewish property that was transferred into non-Jewish ownership in 1944.
