Kan family at the beach in Zandvoort

Jeanne and an unidentified man in a robe over a bathing suit walk towards the camera. Jeanne walks away. 01:08:01 Betsy digs a hole in the sand. Several children play. 01:08:47 Betsy rides her bike alone down the street. Robert drives his toy car (previously seen on Film ID 2473 at 01:03:14) down the street while the woman watches. 01:09:27 Robert garden pulling a toy tractor in the garden. EXT - a group of people in a field. Beach chairs. Betsy walks around holding her hat. 01:10:09 Cut to a woman, possibly Jeanne's sister, sitting behind a vase of flowers. Setting up a picnic. Children walk around. 01:11:19 Beach. The children run towards a group of children playing in the sand. CU, building a sand castle. CUs, various children. 01:12:10 MS, Jeanne, who smiles and talks to people sitting near her who are not shown on screen. 01:12:25 Betsy and another girl swing on a pole. Robert on a swing. Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Robert Kan and his family escaped the Nazis on May 13, 1940 and emigrated to Queens, New York via the Dutch East Indies. He received a BA in Economics from Hofstra Univeristy and worked for thirty years for the US government at the Department of Commerce, the Atomic Energy Commission, the National Science Foundation, and the American Embassy in Tokyo. After retiring from the government, he became a Certified Financial Planner. He was a lifelong Boy Scout and accomplished philatelist. He was married for 58 years to Francisca Verdoner Kan and had three daughters, Jeanette, Susan, and Eleanor.
