Seventeen-year-old Josef Schoner of Euskirchen, Germany, convicted of espionage against the U.S. Army is placed in a coffin after his execution by a Ninth U.S. Army firing squad. He and another German youth were found spying on American forces and were executed June 1, 1945, near Braunschweig, Germany.
