The collection consists of three diaries written by Frank J. Morris while on military duty in England, France, and Germany during World War II. One diary covers from 16 August 1944 until 3 October 1944, another from 3 October 1944 until 18 March 1945, and the last from 23 March 1945 until 5 June 1945.

The Otto Eidlitz diaries consist of three diaries written by Otto Eidlitz between 1940 and 1943. The diaries cover the period of his escape from Hungary to Spain and his time in the Miranda del Ebro prison. The diaries also include his handwritten Hungarian to Spanish dictionary.

Dr Gerhard Weiler (born in 1899), a chemist, was originally from Berlin. He grew up in a middle class family, enjoyed travelling abroad and visits to the theatre and opera. He emigrated to England in 1934 having been offered facilities for setting up a microanalytical chemistry laboratory at Oxford University by Professor Sir Robert Robinson, for a process not available in England at the time.
